La Raza Announces Key Appointments.

Robert J. Armband, Publisher & CEO of La Raza, announced two key appointments. Jorge Mederos, has been named Managing Editor and Steve Forrestal has been named General Manager and Controller. The changes take effect immediately.

“La Raza is entering an exciting era in our history and we are assembling an extraordinary team to help take us there,” stated Armband. “We’ve experienced incredible success over the past years and are looking to build upon that success and solidify our position as the #1 Spanish language publication in Chicago.”

Mr. Mederos previously served as the Metro Editor at La Raza. He is an award-winning journalist with experience in both newspapers and television.

“Under Jorge’s leadership, La Raza’s Metro section has raised the bar for local coverage.” said Armband, “We both share a vision to enhance our news coverage for and about Latinos living in Chicago.”

Mr. Forrestal has served as controller in numerous industries including manufacturing, distribution, professional services and publishing. “Steve Forrestal brings extraordinary breadth and depth that will be invaluable in leading our very capable team” stated Armband. “Steve has an outstanding track record and we look forward to the contributions he will make to enhancing our operations,” Armband continued. Forrestal has an MBA in Finance from the New York Institute of Technology and a BS in Accounting from Marist College, New York.
