LatAM Association’s 16th Annual Latin Fever Ball ‘Café y Chocolate: The Flavor of the Americas’.

The Latin American Association (LAA) announced today that its 16th Annual Latin Fever Ball will be hosted by CNN en Español’s senior news anchor Patricia Janiot. Ms. Janiot will emcee this year’s event: “Café y Chocolate: The Flavor of the Americas” at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Buckhead on October 9th.

Ms. Janiot, who joined CNN en Español in 1992, has been at the forefront of the network’s national and international Spanish language news coverage for over 10 years. She is also a weekly contributor to CNN en Español RADIO, CNN’s Spanish-Language radio news service. Ms. Janiot has received numerous journalism accolades, most recently being awarded a 2002 Spanish language Television Industry Award (INTE) for Best Female News Personality. She is actively involved with Atlanta’s fast growing Hispanic community and serves as president of the non-profit organization “Colombianitos” dedicated to helping children who have been affected by the war in Colombia.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to help support and highlight the Latin American Association’s wonderful community efforts throughout Atlanta. The LAA plays a vital role in the community by providing programs and services that promote strong and stable families. I am honored and humbled to have been chosen to host this enchanted evening, and I am looking forward to a great event,” said Ms. Janiot. The Latin American Association’s Executive Director, Maritza Pichon, added “Patricia epitomizes the Hispanic-American success story in this country, and is the ideal role model, both in her professional endeavors and in her extensive community involvement. The LAA is very fortunate to have Patricia hosting our most important fundraiser of the year.”

The black tie LAA Latin Fever Ball is Atlanta’s highlight of the observance of Hispanic Heritage Month, which is celebrated nationally from September 15 through October 15. The gala is also the premier fundraiser for the LAA, and has become well known for its distinctive ambiance, Latin rhythms, and exquisite food. Funds from the ball underwrite the costs of LAA programs including, language and education, youth, family, employment, housing and immigration services.
