Latina Blogger presence spicing up BlogHer Conference 2010.

The recent explosion of Latina bloggers on the web has sparked a buzz of excitement throughout cyberspace. From bilingual mommy bloggers to feisty fashionistas, these lovely Latinas are expressing their views and opinions to a wide array of subscribers, some Spanish-speaking and some not. The growing power of Latina bloggers or “Blogueras” is now a force to be reckoned with in cyberspace. Latinas are outpacing the general market in growth and use of social media and while general market bloggers with half the traction of Latina bloggers have long enjoyed sponsorships, Latina bloggers are now seeing much more interest and engagement from brands and companies.

In fact, at this year’s BlogHer Conference, V-me, one of the nation’s largest Spanish TV networks, sponsored seven influential Latina Bloggers, marking the first time any company has sponsored Latina bloggers at a major blog conference and also representing the most bloggers from any market ever sponsored by a single company. BlogHer also saw more Latinas in attendance than ever before and it featured its first all Latina panel which was a SRO event drawing attendance from marketers in every product category.

According to Sophia Mind, Hispanic women in the U.S. are one of the fastest-growing online demographics, and more than 85 percent of Latinas visit social networks on a regular basis. Not only are U.S. Hispanics tech-savvy and love the Internet, but Hispanics are extremely engaged social media users. A recent report from Tamara Barber at Forrester Research indicates that Hispanics over-index the general market across all social technographic segments, especially when it comes to “high-order” social media activities.

Since word of mouth is king among Latinas. More than 90% of all consumers report that the recommendation of a friend, family member or expert is the leading influence on their purchase behavior. And with 77% of Hispanics engaging in some kind of online socializing, social media is quickly becoming the battleground in which brand allegiances are won or lost.

Last week’s BlogHer conference was just the start for Latina bloggers on the national scene. So, keep your eye on Latina bloggers as they continue to spice up cyberspace.
