Latina Media Ventures Names Betty Cortina Editorial Director.

Latina Media Ventures, publisher of Latina Magazine, announced that Betty Cortina, one of the founding editors of O, The Oprah Magazine, has joined the company as its Editorial Director. In that capacity, she will work directly with Christy Haubegger, President and Founder of Latina, and Sylvia Martinez, Editor-in-Chief, to adapt the editorial vision of Latina to a range of new media and build upon the success achieved to date at Latina Magazine.

“Betty has a profound understanding of the Hispanic marketplace and a wide range of expertise in magazine editorial and publishing,” said Ms. Haubegger. “Her talent, energy and vitality will be a great asset to us as we continue to empower our readers and all Hispanic women throughout the country.”

“I am thrilled to work closely with the Latina team in particular with Christy, who is one of the true pioneers in Hispanic media,” said Ms. Cortina. “We will work together to realize Latina’s full potential as a powerful editorial voice and extend it to a wide range of media.”

“Betty is a great addition to the already impressive talent base at Latina,” said Molly Ashby, Chairman of the Board of Latina and Chief Executive Officer of Solera Capital, a major shareholder. “Betty’s expertise in writing and editorial, and knowledge of the production side, will help Christy and her team take the company to its next level of growth and development. We are delighted she has agreed to join us at this exciting time in Latina’s history.”
