Latino Business Week In Los Angeles.

Mayor Jim Hahn will proclaim October 12-19, 2002, as “Latino Business Week” in Los Angeles.

The proclamation is a part of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s 23rd Annual National Convention and Business Expo coming to the city of Los Angeles, October 16-19.

The announcement was made at a morning press conference with Mayor Hahn, USHCC Chief Operating Officer Ramon Rodriguez, La Opinion President Monica Lozano, Goya Public Relations Director Rafael Toro, Latina Style Publisher Robert Bard, and Latin Business Association Board Chair Ruth Lopez-Williams.

“In Los Angeles there are more Hispanic-owned businesses than anywhere in the region,” said Mayor Hahn. “Hispanic Businesses in Los Angeles have increased by 96% in the last decade from 56,000 to 110,000 today. I am glad the USHCC has chosen to come to this great City to hold their Expo. I look forward to working with you to find creative ways to increase our local and national economy.”

“During ‘Latino Business Week’, a series of important activities will lead to the USHCC’s convention where more than 5,000 Hispanic entrepreneurs, business leaders, elected officials as well as the nation’s top CEO’s from around the country will participate,” said Ramon Rodriguez, Chief Operating Officer of the USHCC. “With our convention co-chairs — Monica Lozano, President of La Opinion, and Andy Unanue, Chief Operating Officer of Goya Foods, Inc., ‘Latino Business Week’ will provide Hispanic-owned businesses with a diversity of business and networking opportunities.”

“Latino Business Week” begins on Saturday, October 12, with the LATINA Style Business Seminar Series. The seminar, led by business professionals, teaches Latinas the strategies and tools to successfully compete as entrepreneurs in today’s business environment. On October 15-16, the Latin Business Association (LBA) will hold its Business Expo that will provide business-to-business opportunities.
