Latino Director Jessy Terrero Makes Directorial Debut With MGM’s ‘Soul Plane’.

Jessy Terrero, the noted Latino music video and motion picture creator, will make his major motion picture studio directorial debut with MGM’s new urban comedy “Soul Plane” (http://www.soulplane.com) which will be released on Friday, May 28, 2004 at the start of the Memorial Day weekend.

“Soul Plane”, Terrero’s first major motion picture, is an urban comedy based on the 1980 hit movie “Airplane”. It is about a passenger who creates the full-service airline of his dreams, complete with sexy flight attendants, funky music, a dance club and a bathroom attendant. The comedy stars Tom Arnold, Kevin Hart, Snoop Dogg, Method Man, D.L. Hugley, Sofia Vergara and Mo’Nique Imes-Jackson.

Jessy Terrero, Producer and Director of MGM’s “Soul Plane” and President of Terrero Films, commented: “Soul Plane is a refreshing, entertaining, comical experience, much like Friday’s urban humor meeting Austin Powers’ eclectic style.”

Complementing his success with “Soul Plane”, Mr. Terrero will be directing “Untitled Jamaica Queens Project” for Terrero Films, loosely based on his short film, which was well received at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival and screened at the New York International Latino Film Festival, Urbanworld, and the Los Angeles Short Film Festival. “Untitled Jamaica Queens Project” is being compared to a Latino version of the comedy “Friday”.

The deal with Terrero Films to make the “Untitled Jamaica Queens Project” was struck by executive producer Sergio Aguero and producer Jorge Vergara of the Academy Award-nominated motion picture “Y Tu Mama Tambien”. Aguero and Vergara’s Apuesta Pictures will finance the project and co-produce the film.

Mr. Terrero continued: “There is a genuine need for the entertainment industry to present wonderful stories of how Latinos and the Urban community are preserving their rich cultural heritage while becoming valued members of the American community. I am committed to bringing these stories to mainstream entertainment venues such as film, television and other media outlets. As a young Latino, I am excited and proud of the projects that I’ve pioneered and will continue to seek other opportunities to take Latino and Urban based cultural entertainment to levels that will introduce audiences in America and around the world to the glories of Latino and Urban culture.
