LATV Gives Local Youth Opportunity To Be A ‘VJ’.

Bilingual television network LATV is again looking for a few new faces. This summer, LATV’s “Be A VJ 2” contest provides the opportunity of a lifetime to anyone whoever wanted to be an on-air television host. “Be A VJ 2” starts off with an open audition at the Citadel Outlets, the title sponsor, in the City of Commerce on Saturday, June 12th from 10am-6pm. The potential stars-in-the-making audition and get narrowed down to twenty. One of the central themes of LATV programming is that we are interactive. “The Be A VJ contest not only interacts with our audience put puts them front and center. We look forward to giving new talent a chance to get a break and to be a part of our programming,” says Daniel Crowe, President of LATV.

“Be A VJ 2” is divided into four phases: Phase 1 is the open auditions at the Citadel Outlets where twenty finalists are selected; Phase 2 is the “VJ Bootcamp” where the finalists are shipped off to and trained by television host trainer Marki Costello. Contestants will be drilled on VJ etiquette and form groups, testing their skills and voting each other off; Phase 3 includes on-air Try Outs where the Bootcamp survivors will be handed various on-air and on-location assignments. Phase 4 occurs in July when the winner is chosen. Celebrity judges will rate, judge and vote for the eventual new face of LATV.

The television audience will be able to pick their favorite new VJ through http://www.latv.com and via telephone. The winner receives a LATV Contract, a $500 Shopping Spree at the Citadel Outlets, and a Television Hosting Seminar
($400 value) with hosting guru Marki Costello (MTV, E!, VH1).

Confirmed celebrity guests and judges to date include Rogelio Martinez (Singer), Ninette Rios (host of Telemundo’s Buena Onda), Rick Najera (Comedian / “Mad TV” writer); Super Steve Flores (from KROQ’s Kevin and Bean morning team), Marki Costello (Casting Director for Next Action Star, The Bachelor 1, Meet My Folks, Temptation Island II), and Elaine Montalvo (Costume Designer for Supercross, Real Women Have Curves, Chuck and Buck, Brother’s Garcia).

“Be A VJ 2” is produced by Lupe Rodriguez of A La Brava Entertainment. Lionel Pasamonte of LATV is the executive producer. The “Be A VJ 2” contest is open to anyone over the age of eighteen.
