Laughlin To Host 2nd Annual Viva Laughlin!

The Laughlin Tourism Committee and the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority (LVCVA) together with Pochteca Events Works will present the 2nd annual Viva Laughlin!, a festival celebrating Latino Heritage Month. The city-wide event is scheduled for October 7-10, 2005.

During the four days of celebration, Laughlin will once again host one of the largest fiestas of its kind. Viva Laughlin! will feature performances by renowned Latin music artists, comedian, theatrical productions, variety shows, films, celebrity appearances, expos, high profile boxing matches and much more. A complete schedule and listing of performers will be announced in June.

“Viva Laughlin! is an extraordinary event for this destination as it specifically targets the burgeoning Hispanic population,” said Sean Hammond, director of player development and casino events at the Ramada Express and local chairperson for the event. “Our outreach efforts will target key regional markets including Southern California, Phoenix-Mesa, and Las Vegas, areas which account for 25% of the total Hispanic population in the U.S. Given Laughlin’s proximity to these areas, it is convenient for Hispanic visitors to make the trip to experience this city-wide celebration.”

During last year’s successful inaugural event, Pochteca Event Works was responsible for creating and producing an exhilarating celebration that 20,000 visitors were in town to experience. In addition, an approximate 10,000-plus hotel rooms were sold out three weeks in advance.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Laughlin Tourism Committee and the LVCVA for the 2nd annual Viva Laughlin!,” said Mario Cobian, CEO of Pochteca Event Works. “Our goal is to make Viva Laughlin! the city’s largest and most prestigious event of the year. By developing new exciting and diverse attractions for everyone, we are confident that we will reach our goal in the very near future.”

Highlighting some of last years activities and talent were renowned Latino pop music star Cristian Castro, Latino songstress Jennifer Pena, the legendary Freddy Fender, comedians Alex Reymundo and Joey Medina, beautiful Hawaiian Tropic models and many more.
