Leading Hispanic Organizations Support Univision/HBC Merger.

Univision Communications Inc. and Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation announced that many leading Hispanic community groups, including the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), National Council of La Raza, National Hispanic Media Coalition and National Puerto Rican Coalition, have written in support of the proposed Univision-Hispanic Broadcasting merger. In addition, the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA) and a broad spectrum of prominent national and regional Hispanic organizations have also declared their support. A list of some of these organizations follows.

“We are gratified to have received such broad support from a wide range of respected organizations within the Hispanic community,” said A. Jerrold Perenchio, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Univision Communications. “Combining the resources of Univision and HBC will allow us to build on the existing efforts of both companies to provide the highest quality service, information and entertainment to Hispanic America.”

Mac Tichenor, Jr., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Hispanic Broadcasting said: “This pro-competitive merger is an important milestone that will level the playing field and usher in a new era in which Spanish-language media companies will be able to compete for audiences and advertising dollars on a more equal footing against the large English-language conglomerates.”
