Four teams of Los Angeles locals will face-off in the “Copa Verizon Wireless” soccer tournament at the Home Depot Center on June 4th. Selected by five popular Latino radio stations in May, sixty area residents will compete to share a $10,000 championship purse. Radio stations selecting players included:

— Oye 97.5
— Super Estrella
Meet and Greet with Luis Hernandez
The players will have a chance to meet professional soccer player Luis Hernandez at the tournament. Known for his dyed blond hair and “El Matador” nickname, Hernandez has scored 35 goals playing for Mexico’s National Team. He now trails only Jared Borgetti as the nation’s all-time leading goal scorer. Hernandez has played with several clubs, including Cruz Azul, Monterrey, Necaxa, America, Tigres, Veracruz, and Chiapas.
Giving Back to the Community through HopeLine
Prior to the championship match, Verizon Wireless will award a $10,000 HopeLine grant to Break The Cycle, a domestic violence prevention agency in Los Angeles dedicated to aiding survivors of domestic abuse.
Through HopeLine, Verizon Wireless accepts no-longer used wireless phones and accessories from any service provider year-round and turns them into help for victims of domestic violence through local non-profit agencies. For more information, please visit http://www.verizonwireless.com/hopeline
