Lexus honors LBC’s – Immigrant Archive Project.
February 9, 2010
Lexus presents the Lexus Listening Lounge, an invitation only event where Lexus celebrates the creative and entrepreneurial spirit of South Florida’s vibrant Hispanic community. This one-night affair, will take place at the Awarehouse, located in Miami’s design district. As part of the event, Lexus will honor the Immigrant Archive Project (IAP) with “El Premio En Busca de la Perfección” (The Pursuit of Perfection Award) for the organization’s commitment to documenting and preserving those stories of character, conviction, and success that embody the collective legacy of the US Hispanic community.
By recognizing the IAP, Lexus sets out to highlight the significance of preserving the stories of those who, after coming to this country in pursuit of a better life, have contributed to this country in so many important ways. These are the stories of business leaders, musicians, chefs, designers, and other community members that all share a powerful bond. The Immigrant Archive Project captures these stories by recording, in their own words, the struggles, dreams and accomplishments of America’s vast and influential Hispanic immigrant population so that future generations may learn from their collective experiences and their wisdom.
“South Florida is one of the richest examples of the cultural legacy that Hispanics have forged in music and in the arts. We are proud to be involved in bringing the next generation of creative innovators to the forefront,” says Dave Nordstrom, Vice President of Marketing at Lexus. “The evening’s musical guests, acclaimed Latin artists Elastic Bond and DJ Cristi 10hagen, were not only chosen for their stellar reputations, but also for their own compelling stories of pursuing dreams; their stories of sacrifice and success.”
“We are honored to be recognized by Lexus for pursuing our mission of preserving the emotional and influential stories of this nation’s Hispanic immigrants,” says Tony Hernandez, co-founder and Executive Producer of the Immigrant Archive Project and President/CEO of Latino Broadcasting Company. “It is always inspiring when companies of such caliber put a spot light on the importance of sharing our stories with future generations.”
