Telemundo Media, “The U.S. Home of the Olympic Games in Spanish,” announced its programming plans for the kick-off of its London 2012 Olympic Games coverage starting on Thursday, July 26 at 6:30 A.M. Telemundo’s programming line-up for the first days of the Games will highlight a wide variety of sports of interest to Hispanics including boxing, swimming, gymnastics and especially soccer, featuring the qualifying matches of Mexico vs. Korea and Brazil vs. Egypt on Thursday, July 26; and Mexico vs. Gabon and Spain vs. Honduras on Sunday, July 29. Starting on Thursday, July 26, Telemundo’s Olympic fans will be able to watch highlights, reviews and extended analysis of the day’s games every night from 12 midnight until 2:30 A.M. The network also introduced “Sueña” (Dream), a song exclusively produced for Telemundo by music mogul Emilio Estefan and performed by novela star and singer Jencarlos Canela to celebrate the network’s coverage of the world’s most important sporting event across all its shows and platforms. In addition, Telemundo announced former Olympic athletes Ramón Rivas and Nicolás Massú will join Telemundo’s award-winning team of expert commentators and analysts lead by renowned sports commentator Andres Cantor, to present the basketball and tennis matches, respectively. Rivas was the second Puerto Rican player to join the NBA with the Boston Celtics and represented his country at the Seoul 1988, Barcelona 1992 and Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games. Massú was recently named Chilean Olympic icon by the British edition of Time magazine and represented Chile in three Summer Olympics: Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008. A two times medalist, Massú is the only tennis player who has been awarded the gold medal on single and double matches at the same Olympic Games.
