Lopez Negrete Communications Shines @ 43rd Addy’s In Houston.
January 28, 2005
Lopez Negrete Communications was the most-winning agency of the night, collecting the coveted Best of Show award for the second time in a row at this year’s Houston Advertising Federation’s (HAF) 43rd Annual ADDY Awards. The ADDY Awards were exceptionally rewarding for the agency this year, as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Creative Officer Alex López Negrete was honored with the HAF’s highest individual award, the Silver Medal.
A brief congratulatory video featuring López Negrete’s clients, friends and employees was played before he was presented with the Silver Medal. “I am deeply honored, touched and overwhelmed by this recognition,” said López Negrete. “I share this award with my wife and business partner, Cathy, without whose unwavering support, counsel and leadership this achievement would not have been possible, as well as with all of the loyal, hard-working professionals – past and present — that make up the Lopez Negrete family.”
The Silver Medal award represents the highest honor bestowed upon any individual by the HAF and is unique among advertising awards in its recognition of a lifetime of service spent furthering advertising industry standards, creative excellence and the advancement of community ideals.
“We are proud to recognize Alex for his distinct accomplishments and direct contributions to the Houston community at large and the industry as a whole. His passion and vision for Hispanic marketing has revolutionized the way organizations around the country aim for this important and growing market segment,” said Jay Hagins, HAF President.
For the second year in a row, the agency carried off the Best of Show award in the broadcast category — this year for Tyson Foods’ Prodigy spot, one of three TV ads created for Tyson’s “Powered by” campaign launched last August. Last year marked the first time a Hispanic agency won the Best of Show prize with Spanish-language work, making this back-to-back win another first.
The winning spot features children painting murals on a city wall; the child who has been powered by Tyson has painted an incredible work of art.
Also for the second year in a row, Lopez Negrete was the most-winning agency at the ADDYs. The agency received a total of 56 awards. The 16 Gold ADDYs were awarded for work on behalf of Tyson Foods (8), Fiesta Mart, Inc. (4), Azteca Milling, L.P. (3) and Visa U.S.A. (1).
The 11 Silver ADDYs were awarded for Azteca Milling (2), Bank of America (2), Fiesta Mart (4), Tyson Foods (3), Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (1) and Visa (1).
Twenty-eight Citations of Excellence were won for Wal-Mart (8), Fiesta Mart (7), Tyson (5), Azteca Milling (4), Bank of America (2), Reliant Energy, Inc. (1) and Sonic Corp. (1).
