Lopez Negrete Produces Super Bowl PSA Effort In Houston.
December 21, 2003
With less than two weeks to Super Bowl XXXVIII, new Mayor Bill White has launched a public service campaign encouraging Houstonians to welcome visitors to our city and go the extra mile in being friendly and helpful to our guests.
The local Hispanic community, which represents almost 30% of Houston’s population, is also being invited to extend their hospitality with a new Spanish-language public service announcement produced by Houston’s own Lopez Negrete Communications.
“We’re proud to be doing our part in welcoming guests to the city. As a Houston-based national agency, we want to help make the best impression so visitors will go home and tell everyone what a great city Houston is,” said Alex Lopez Negrete, Lopez Negrete Communications President and CEO.
The PSA entitled “Houston Tiene Visitas. ¡Pon Tu Mejor Sonrisa!” is a transcreation of the English version “Put Your Smile On. Company’s Coming.” The spot which was filmed entirely in Houston tapped into the local talent pool, including Mayor Bill White, Texan’s David Carr, Irma Galvan from Irma’s Restaurant, Felix Fraga, President of Neighborhood Center’s Ripley House, light-weight boxer Juan Diaz, and a group of young Hispanic professionals at Bossa Latin Bar Café.
The PSA will air on both of Houston’s Spanish-language stations including Univision’s KXLN-Channel 45 and Telemundo’s KTMD-Channel 47 in the days leading up to the Super Bowl. The Spanish-language PSA was produced in collaboration with Locke Bryan Productions, a local independently-owned production company business. Both Locke Bryan and Lopez Negrete produced the PSA on pro-bono basis as their contributions to this campaign.
