Lopez Negrete snags Gold at Art Directors Club of Houston.

Lopez Negrete Communications earned the gold Art Directors Club of Houston award for its Miller Lite television spot “Pool Party.” The winning commercial is one of three spots in Miller Lite’s popular “Perfect Combination” campaign, which demonstrates to beer enthusiasts you can have it all – real beer flavor and refreshment.

“Houston has always had a spectacular design community. For years, the ADCH awards have recognized work that, in my eyes, is not just at or above the national level, but at the worldwide level. Best of the best. This is not an easy show to win in, nor should it be. This is why we are so proud of all our teams who have created work that the judges felt worthy of recognition – work that is relevant for our audience, breakthrough creatively, and also demonstrates design and art direction deserving of medals.” said Alex López Negrete, president and CEO of Lopez Negrete Communications.

Creatively, “Pool Party” takes a good situation and makes it even better by the protagonists using their imaginations in order to create perfect combinations – a parallel to which is the perfect combination of taste and refreshment. In this commercial, as in the others in the series, it’s the classic childhood game of perspective, reducing faraway objects to something you can hold between your thumb and index finger. Then, special effects come into play, courtesy of post house Rock Paper Scissors, as the held objects are moved around to create the “perfect combination.”

The spots were directed by acclaimed Colombian film director Simon Brand, guided by the vision of Lopez Negrete creative director Federico Traeger, associate creative director Miguel Nogueras, copywriter Nestor Bernal, producer Roberto Feliciano, and graphic designer Karen Kain. Long-time agency collaborator and renowned Mexican composer/producer, Gustavo Farias, of Farias Productions added his musical inspiration with original score for this commercial and all others in the series.

Lopez Negrete Communications was the sole agency to take home gold, silver and bronze awards in the “Television” category of the show’s “Advertising” category. The agency took home five additional awards in addition to its shiny gold honor for Miller Lite. Walmart Financial Services secured a silver for its single TV campaign, “Piece of Cake,” while Bank of America won two bronze honors for its television commercial entitled “Date of Birth” which aired in English in the general market, and “Hispanic Checking Lenticular,” point of sale Spanish-language materials. Sonic Drive-Ins was also awarded a bronze in the “Rich Media Ad” category for its “Sonic Zone Sweeter After Dark” interactive campaign. The agency proudly won its own award on behalf of its newly branded stationery package.
