Los Angeles, Mexico Billboard Effort Controversial.
April 5, 2005
Liberman Broadcasting owners and operators of KRCA-TV Channel 62 in Los Angeles began a billboard campaign using the slogan Los Angeles, Mexico. By crossing out the CA in red and rewriting “Mexico”, they are promoting the relationship between Hispanics in Los Angeles and Mexico.
The effort has been the center of a controversy and media attention with many anti-immigration groups that feel that the campaign promotes the wrong images about immigration.
This campaign was running in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside San Bernardino counties. Liberman Broadcasting has agreed to bring down the boards after Clear Channel Outdoor requested the change due to the controversy.
