Los Tigres Del Norte Launch ‘La Reina Del Sur’.

Fonovisa Records announced this year’s Latin music’s most highly anticipated Norteno/corrido release “La Reina Del Sur.” This time around Los Tigres Del Norte’s music goes well beyond the genre and delves into uncharted territory…that of literature.

Their new album “La Reina Del Sur” is quickly becoming an instant cultural masterpiece. For the first time in Latin music, literature shares a common ideology with the passion for “corrido culture” and the music of Los Tigres Del Norte. Renowned Spanish novelist Arturo Perez Reverte inspired by Los Tigres Del Norte’s legendary corridos “Contrabando Y Traicion” and “Camelia La Tejana” pens a 500 page fictional novel. Los Tigres Del Norte are at the vanguard of their genre and now have become the inspiration of literature in the study of “corrido culture.”

“La Reina Del Sur,” features 14 tracks with their unique trademark of modern day narratives that speak about family issues, “Mi Sangre Prisionera,” drug trafficking corridos such as the title track, “La Reina Del Sur,” political issues in tracks such as “El Artista and “El Soldado,” as well as themes about love and hope. The album was produced by Los Tigres Del Norte Inc. and was recorded at Music Annex in Menlo Park, California.

Their success with “La Reina Del Sur” does not come as a surprise since Los Tigres Del Norte’s music is reaching a milestone of acceptance in Spain where they are highly respected. Los Tigres Del Norte has successfully toured throughout the land of Cervantes filling up plazas, stadiums and conquering the heart and soul of new fans who are gaining awareness of the perils immigrants in Latin America face everyday.

Living legends of Mexican Norteno music, Los Tigres Del Norte are admired icons of more than four generations. Their grassroots sound and political social lyrics have endeared them to millions of fans. Their career span of more than 33 years including sales exceeding 32 million units worldwide. They have earned 130 Platinum and 125 Gold albums. Los Tigres Del Norte have been the recipients of important honors such as the Grammy(R), award for which they have been nominated on 12 occasions, seven of them consecutively. The group has consistently led the top tier positions on the Billboard music charts. Their concerts have broken attendance records throughout the United States, Mexico and Latin America.

Earlier this month Los Tigres del Norte participated in the 30th Annual Festival Internacional Cervantino in Guanajuato, Mexico with Mexico’s leading Mexican Rock bands such as Molotov, La Barranca and Julieta Venegas who paid tribute to the group, proving that their music earns respect across generational landscapes. Their recent success in Spain and with Mexican Rock bands make them a true international musical phenomenon.
