Love & Suicide.

First narrative-feature film shot in Cuba, by Americans, since the embargo on Cuba.

Award winning filmmakers Luis Moro and Lisa France filmed the movie, Love & Suicide, in Havana, Cuba. Based on factual events, Love & Suicide is a unique love story that follows Tomas (Kamar de los Reyes: One Life to Live) and Nina (Daisy McCrackin: The Unseen) as they’re guided through Havana by Cuban taxi driver Alberto (Moro). In this picturesque journey Tomas discovers the one thing between love and suicide.

Named by People Magazine as one of the 50 sexiest bachelors, Kamar de los Reyes is known by millions of fans as Antonio Vegas on the ABC drama One Life to Live.

“Hollywood heavyweights from Steven Spielberg and Stephen Soderbergh to Francis Ford Coppola and Sydney Pollack have expressed a desire to make movies in Cuba. But Cuba has been off-limits to American filmmakers with commercial motives since the U.S. government imposed an embargo against the island in 1960” Daniel Chang, Miami Herald.

The embargo didn’t stop Moro. He’s championing our First and Fifth Amendments: Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Travel, respectively. “We’re American citizens with rights our forefathers died to defend, the same rights we are spending billions of dollars to give the people of Iraq. Yet, we make a movie in Cuba and some politicians are trying to use the U.S. Embargo on Cuba to squelch our Freedom of Speech. I’m a filmmaker, a storyteller. Who are these politicians? Why are they afraid of U.S. citizens seeing the real Cuba with their own eyes?” Moro.

Luis Moro co-wrote the screen play for Love & Suicide with director of the film, Lisa France. Love & Suicide premiers at The Mayfair Movie Theatre, starting Friday May 26th to June 1st.
