Machado/Garcia-Serra Communications announces senior associate promotions.

Manuel E. Machado, CEO/Co-Chairman of Machado/Garcia-Serra Communications (MGS) announced the promotion of two key associates. Yvonne Lorie has been named Senior Vice-President/Group Director, Public Relations Division. Formerly Vice-President, Ms. Lorie will develop and implement strategies utilizing the integration of public relations and marketing to drive brand awareness and consideration for the Agency’s client roster. In addition, she will have expanded responsibilities directing overall internal and external communications for the Agency, and play a greater role in new business initiatives.
Cristina Alvarez has been named Vice President, Marketing overseeing the New Business and Research departments. Formerly Director of Marketing, in her new role Ms. Alvarez will be responsible for identifying growth trends within various industries, while ensuring informed strategic applications to reach consumer segments utilizing the appropriate channels.
“These individuals have created a benchmark at the agency for demonstrating the business acumen that is needed to profitably run their respective divisions, while delivering results for our client partners,” stated Manuel Machado. He added, “Ms. Lorie is an exceptional public relations professional and experienced leader who has successfully managed her division to unprecedented growth. Ms. Alvarez has contributed tremendously to the Agency’s new business model, with significant acquisitions during the first half of 2007.”
Lorie’s career spans over 15 years of experience developing, managing, and implementing public relations and integrated marketing communications programs with profitable results. Her expertise includes strategic planning, corporate communications, media relations, community relations, sales promotions, product launches, event marketing and special events.
Alvarez’ pursuit of understanding human attitudes and motivation, coupled with years of industry knowledge within various categories poised her to lead the New Business and Research departments at MGS. Her category knowledge covers a wide spectrum including: financial, automotive, telecommunications, government, airlines, food & beverage, pharmaceuticals, department stores, and petroleum.
