Macin & Stuck promoted at Univision and Telefutura.

Univision Communications Inc. announced that Maelia Macin and Steve Stuck have both been promoted to General Manager – Macin for Austin Univision and TeleFutura and Stuck for Sacramento Univision and TeleFutura. They will report to Michael Wortsman, President of Univision Television Group.

“Maelia and Steve are superior sales professionals who have successfully surpassed every target at Univision,” said Wortsman. “Their promotion as General Managers to the capital cities of the two most populous Hispanic states in the country is a testament to their proven success and my confidence in their abilities.”

Univision recruits, trains and retains great people. According to Wortsman, “Univision has exceptionally strong bench strength. We have a great pool of talented individuals, committed to Univision and eager to fill strategic positions around the country.”

As part of its company-wide retention and training efforts, Univision runs an Executive MBA Recruitment program to attract the top graduates from the best MBA programs in the country. Although Macin and Stuck where not part of this program, five graduates currently run Univision television stations, with many others serving in various executive positions throughout Univision. Macin and Stuck participated in the Univision Sales Training program, implemented in 1997 to establish a solid foundation in the Hispanic market.

Macin has worked with the U.S. Hispanic market for 21 years, the last 13 at Univision where she has served in varying capacities. Macin sold network integration in Miami and served as Account Executive and Local Sales Manager at KMEX in Los Angeles. Macin is happy to return to Austin where she studied and started her career. Her husband and two sons will join her.

With 20 years of media experience, Stuck started his career at Univision in 1991 as the National Sales and Promotions Coordinator at KDTV in San Francisco. Stuck then moved to Los Angeles and joined the national spot office as Account Executive. In 1997, he joined KUVS in Sacramento as the National Sales Manager. Stuck was promoted to Local Sales Manager in 2001 where he co-managed a team of nine account executives. Later in 2001, he was promoted to General Sales Manager.
