Macy’s to Kick Off the 25th Anniversary Campaign for Latino Commission on AIDS

Macy’s will host the official ceremony to induct Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega as the newest Madrina of the Latino Commission on AIDS and also name its 25th anniversary award recipients to be honored at the organization’s annual benefit gala, Cielo.

This annual media reception launches the promotional campaign Cielo, the largest annual fundraising event for the fight against HIV & AIDS  in the Latino community. This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the Latino Commission on AIDS.  Cielo will commemorate this milestone on Friday, May 15th  at Cipriani Wall Street.

•    Over the 25-year history of the Commission, medical advances have succeeded in preventing the physical devastation that people and communities witnessed in the early days of the epidemic, yet the daily reality of the epidemic demands that the Commission continue its work and services to the community.
•    Each year, Cielo mobilizes a leadership network of concerned members of the health, business, government, entertainment, fashion and philanthropic sectors, including individual donors, to support the Commission’s vision – to create a world without HIV & AIDS. Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega’s participation in Cielo  will be her first activity in her official role as Madrina, which will focus on HIV and AIDS prevention and education.
    •    Macy’s is supporting Cielo by hosting this event for the media. Additionally, Macy’s is the Presenting Sponsor for the Cielo Latino Silent Auction. For more information, visit www.latinoaids.org/cielo.
