Magaña – Manager MTV Mexico.

MTV Networks Latin America announced the appointment of Carlos Magaña as Country Manager, Mexico, in an effort to streamline its local operations and further maximize its expansion in the country. In this newly created role, Magaña will be responsible for overseeing the company’s operations and staff in Mexico, as well as the strategic positioning of MTVNLA’s business, its brand presence and its relationships with key partners in the territory. In addition, Magaña will identify and develop programming and revenue opportunities for the Networks’ channels in the market, MTV, Vh1, Nickelodeon and the recently launched Logo TV, in order to ensure that the company’s ambitious growth momentum in Mexico is fully capitalized. Based in Mexico City, Magaña will report into Sofia Ioannou, Senior Vice President, Business/Regional Operations & General Counsel for MTV Networks Latin America, whose role has been expanded to cover Regional Operations. In light of MTVNLA’s expansion in Latin America, Ioannou’s added responsibilities will further enhance the flow of communication between the company’s headquarters in Miami and its regional offices in Argentina, Mexico and Brazil, as well as further allow for best practice to be shared across the region and for short and long-term business opportunities and ventures to be identified and leveraged.

“I am delighted to welcome Carlos to our team,” said Ioannou. “His expertise in developing and implementing business, sales and marketing strategies with various multinational companies in Mexico and beyond will help further develop our operations in the region. I am certain that his strong background will enable him to immediately contribute to both our expansion and our ambitious plans for Mexico,” Ioannou added.

The appointment of Magaña reinforces MTVNLA’s commitment to Mexico and to deliver value to its clients and quality content to its Mexican viewers through local productions and customized programming.

Magaña will lead and support MTNVLA’s Mexico staff, which currently includes ad sales, communications, distribution, finance, human resources and IS&T, marketing, production, production management and talent relations. Most recently, the office expanded its operation to include a full studio where international and local artists perform and are interviewed.

Before joining MTV Networks Latin America, Magaña served as Sales Channel Director for Telefonica Moviles – Movistar in Mexico. In this position, Magaña was responsible for defining the company’s sales strategy and managing nationwide distributors and retailers.
