MamasLatinas.com celebrates the extraordinary accomplishments of Latina Moms.

MamasLatinas announced the launch of the first annual MamasLatinas Awards (www.MamasLatinasAwards.com). The Awards are launched in partnership with the Hispanic Federation, as part of their mission to empower and advance the Hispanic community. The object of the Awards is to identify, recognize, and reward those who embody the hard work and commitment of Latina moms across the country, who have gone above and beyond to advance their lives, the lives of their children and families, schools, neighborhoods, or their communities. Seven Hispanic mothers will be recognized for their exceptional achievements in these areas, and each will be awarded $5,000 and other prizes. The Awards will culminate in a Gala during Hispanic Heritage Month, where a line-up of notable Latinas will present the awards to the seven winners.

“So many moms and their stories are not given the recognition they deserve, and MamasLatinas is eager to change that,” explained MamasLatinas Co-founder and Executive Vice President Lucia Ballas-Traynor. “Latina moms in the United States face culturally-unique challenges as they strive to succeed in America while preserving and passing on their Latin heritage and traditions. The MamasLatinas Awards will be the first platform to recognize Hispanic mothers who inspire us all and embody the perseverance of Latina moms across our nation.”

Additionally, the Awards will act as a springboard to empower, inspire, and motivate all Latina moms to continue their good work for their community, themselves and their families. Over the next few months leading up to the Awards Gala, MamasLatinas will also feature a slate of programming and content centered around a new “Get Inspired” group in the community. The group will feature:

• Guest experts every week who will answer moms’ questions around the themes of inspiration, empowerment, and motivation
• Group challenges encouraging moms to do good work, like a “Pay It Forward” Challenge where moms could win gift cards and will be challenged to do something good for others with them
• Amazing stories of Hispanic moms including the first ever Latina US Military pilot and a successful businesswoman and fashion designer battling cerebral palsy

The application and all programming will be featured at MamasLatinasAwards.com. Applications are open from now until July 13th, 2012.
