Mariachi USA Festival Celebrates 15-Year Anniversary.

The magical spirit of the Mariachi USA Festival returns to the newly renovated historic amphitheater, the world-famous Hollywood Bowl, on Saturday, June 26, for its 15th anniversary concert. Celebrating a milestone as a Los Angeles cultural fixture, the world’s preeminent Mariachi festival will host a diverse line-up of lively Mariachi musicians, dancers and performers. Avid fans return year after year for a four-hour concert that culminates with the now traditional, spectacular fireworks finale.

The popular Mariachi USA Festival is a family event celebrating the 19th century Mexican music, culture and tradition. At its heart is the poignant and lively ensemble music of violins, guitars, trumpets, the harp, and the unique ‘vihuela’ and ‘guitarron’ in combination with the voices of performers dressed in bright silver-studded ‘charro’ suits, singing about love and betrayal. The culturally diverse festival opens at 4 pm for picnicking and the concert begins at 6 pm.

“When we brought Mariachi music as a festival to the Hollywood Bowl 15 years ago, we ignited a trend popularizing this music to such a degree that today it is resounding as far away as Japan and Europe and festivals are appearing everywhere too,” says Rodri J. Rodriguez of Rodri Entertainment Group (REG), the Festival’s creator and producer.

According to Rodriguez, much is in store to commemorate this anniversary. Renovations at the 80-year-old Los Angeles County-owned Bowl include a new acoustical shell that will elevate this passionate music to yet another level.

The Mariachi USA Festival fills the Hollywood Bowl each year with devoted fans of this music genre without the advent of one “star” performer. Over 18,000 fans come out to sing along, to dance in the aisles and for the camaraderie.
