Marinela & El Chavo Del 8 Team Up.
August 21, 2005
Two of Marinela’s most popular snacks, Gansito and Barritas, have teamed up with one of America’s most popular Hispanic TV shows, El Chavo del 8. Together, they are celebrating the show’s 35th anniversary as well as students’ return to school with free gifts for loyal fans and consumers.
“It only makes sense for us to support each other,” says Juan Esaa, Marinela Brand Manager. “Marinela and El Chavo have been favorites for Mexican children for decades. El Chavo makes them laugh and Marinela makes them say, ‘YUM!’”
Children are now trading a limited supply of Marinela/El Chavo stickers and posters as they go back to school across America. Each sticker contains a picture of one of the characters on El Chavo del 8. Each poster depicts a neighborhood scene from the TV show. Besides thanking fans and consumers for their loyalty, Marinela and El Chavo hope to encourage a positive attitude within Hispanic communities. The theme for the special campaign is called “Build Your Neighborhood with El Chavo and Marinela.”
The unique collectables are available in specially marked packages of Gansito and Barritas through September (or until supplies last). Packages of strawberry and pineapple Barritas contain a set of four stickers. 7 million stickers have been made with 20 different pictures. Packages of Gansito contain one half of a special poster. There are two different types of posters and 700,000 poster-halves hidden inside Gansito packages. Only loyal fans will be able to piece together the posters or collect all stickers.
“El Chavo del 8” can be seen across America on the Hispanic cable network, Galavision. Television commercials, Point-of-Purchase displays as well as a special website have been created for the Marinela/El Chavo campaign.
