Marinela Promotion Features Good Food – Good Fun.

Marinela is utilizing children’s love of video games to promote a unique marketing effort for its best selling snack cakes and cookies. Beginning July 26, every 10-count package of Marinela Gansito Snack Cakes and 12-count packages of Barritas will include a free CD-ROM with a fun, interactive game, “GAN-CD SPORTS,” featuring brand mascot Gansito on a sports adventure that involves healthy sporting activities such as bicycling, swimming, kayaking and long-distance running.
“Young customers loved our first GAN-CD promotion, which helped increase sales,” said Juan Miguel Essa, Marinela Brand Manager for U.S. “The non-violent games provide hours of fun for youngsters while at the same time promoting healthy exercise.”
In 2003, Marinela launched its first Gan-CD CD-ROM at key retail accounts. The promotion performed beyond expectations and the products were sold-out weeks earlier than anticipated.
The GAN-CD SPORTS interactive game is available in both Spanish and English. In order to challenge kids of all ages, the game features four sports and four skill levels within each sport. The CD-ROM also includes four wallpaper selections and a screen saver. The promotion will run from July 26 for 6 weeks or while supplies last.
“This a great value for parents who will save $20 on a new CD interactive game for their children while purchasing a great tasting product,” said Essa. “We are excited that this year’s game is about a love for sports.”
