Marlin-Fernandez – Managing Editor @ Selecciones.

Reader’s Digest Selecciones magazine named Genevieve Marlin-Fernandez as Managing Editor, it was announced by Conrad Kiechel, Editorial Director, Reader’s Digest International Editions. Marlin-Fernandez joins Selecciones effective July 7th from People en Espanol, where she was Deputy Managing Editor and helped launch the magazine.

“We are delighted to welcome an editor of Genevieve’s caliber and accomplishments,” Kiechel said. “Selecciones has a unique position among Hispanics in the U.S., and Genevieve is uniquely qualified to expand its role as La Revista Completa — the complete magazine. That means offering stories celebrating Latino heroes and celebrities, providing consumer information targeted to the needs of Hispanics, and inspiring readers with against-the-odds narratives.”

Marlin-Fernandez has been with People en Espanol since 1996. She joined as Chief of Reporters, became Entertainment Editor in 2000 and Deputy Managing Editor in January 2002. She supervised staff and freelancers across bureaus in the United States and Latin America, while securing interviews with such personalities as Shakira, Celia Cruz and Ricky Martin. She personally wrote stories in the magazine’s sections Dime la Verdad (Tell Me the Truth), Picadillo (Bits & Pieces) and Album de Fotos (Photo Album). A graduate of New York University (B.A.), she began her journalism career as a reporter with
Money magazine.
