Marsillo named President of Azteca America Spot Television Sales.

Interep announced that Tom Marsillo has been promoted to president of Azteca America Spot Television Sales from his previous role as senior vice president/ general sales manager for the rep firm. He joined the firm at its inception in November 2005.

Marsillo’s promotion comes following the recent appointment of Bob Turner, former president of Azteca America Spot Television Sales, to the position of president of network sales for Azteca America corporate. Since accepting the new position with the network in July, Turner had been overseeing both network and national spot sales activity.

Ralph Guild, Chairman and CEO, Interep, said, “Tom’s contributions have been key to the phenomenal growth that Azteca America Spot Television Sales has seen since its launch just ten months ago. He has done an exceptional job managing the rep firm’s revenue growth for its affiliate stations. We wanted to formally recognize his leadership by promoting him to this new position.”

Guild added, “With Tom overseeing the affiliates’ national spot goals, and Bob Turner leading the network sales efforts, Azteca America and their station affiliates are ideally positioned to maximize their share of Hispanic media dollars.”

To further strengthen Azteca America Spot Television Sales’ management team across the country, three VP/Directors of Sales have been named VP/Regional Managers. These managers include Brian McCullough/New York, Alex Varel/Dallas and Tyler Verdery/Los Angeles.

Turner added, “I look forward to working with Tom and his team to continue the unprecedented sales growth for Azteca America and its affiliates that we achieved while managing the rep firm together at Interep. As I’ve said before, network sales and national spot sales are closely intertwined. Jointly, our two teams can deliver the one-two sales punch that will take Azteca America’s marketing strength to the next level. We’ve already begun to take our message to the national advertising community, and we’re getting a tremendous response.”

To further leverage the strengths of both the national spot and network marketing efforts, Azteca America’s network sales team will move into Interep’s offices this fall.

Prior to joining Interep, Marsillo was National Sales Manager for Una Vez Mas/Azteca America. From 1997 to 2004, he was VP of National Sales for Univision/Telefutura. Marsillo also has general market television sales experience, holding various management positions at Sportschannel Regional Networks and the sports division of Blair Television. Marsillo started his career in 1982 as a junior buyer at Ted Bates & Company.
