August 8, 2003
Latin Grammy nominee Rabanes will be joining Molotov and El Gran Silencio this Fall as they will form part of McDonald’s Lo McXimo de la Música concert series to raise money for Hispanic scholarships. This coming fall, some of the most popular rock en español bands will come together to do more than entertain, they will be raising funds for the RMHC/HACER Scholarship Program.
McDonald’s will be presenting “Lo McXimo de la Música” featuring some today’s best known names in the rock en español genre including 2003 four-time Latin Grammy nominees Molotov, El Gran Silencio and Latin Grammy nominees Rabanes, among other surprises.
The members of Rabanes joined McDonald’s and two winners of the RMHC/HACER scholarship program, who are full-time college students in two top universities, to make the official announcement of the program.
“Lo McXimo de la Música is a concert series that will benefit the Latino community in the U.S. by offering scholarships to Latino students. With our music, we will be helping to achieve that goal,” said Emilio Regueira, lead singer of Rabanes.
Latin Grammy nominee Rabanes joined McDonald’s last week at the Latin Alternative Music Conference in Los Angeles to announce the year’s hottest Rock en Español concert series, Lo McXimo de la Música. Rabanes will join 4-time Latin Grammy nominee Molotov and El Gran Silencio for this concert series. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the RMHC/HACER Scholarship Program.
Proceeds from McDonald’s “Lo McXimo de la Música” concerts will directly benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities/Hispanic American Commitment to Educational Resources (RMHC/HACER) Scholarship Program, the largest high school-to-college Hispanic scholarship program in the nation. At least $5 from every ticket sold will go directly to the scholarship fund. RMHC/HACER, throughout its 17-year history, has awarded over $12 million in scholarships to over 11,000 Hispanic high school seniors in the U.S.
“Lo McXimo de la Música brings music and education together for a great cause. These concerts will raise needed funds to help Hispanic students realize the sometimes elusive dream of a college education,” said Max Gallegos, McDonald’s director of U.S. Marketing.
Customers will also have a chance to win a trip for two to one of the concerts through a national sweepstakes McDonald’s will kick-off on Sept. 1, 2003 on www.lomcximo.com.
“Music is a key passion for our Latino customers. Lo McXimo de la Música goes to the heart of this passion with the most relevant and popular rock en español performers of today,” added Gallegos.
