McKenna named Chairman of Mediafax & CEO of IMMI.
December 19, 2008
KMR Group CEO Andy Brown announced a shift in responsibilities for KMR North America and Mediafax CEO Bill McKenna. McKenna has been appointed Chairman-Founder of Mediafax, Inc. and stepped-down as CEO of KMR North America. Concurrently, McKenna has assumed the position of President & CEO of Integrated Media Measurement Inc., a Silicon Valley media research firm founded in 2004.
In January 2008 WPP/KMR made a significant strategic investment in IMMI. Bill McKenna was actively involved in WPP’s investment decision and today serves as IMMI’s Executive Chairman. IMMI utilizes patented audio matching technology that allows it to passively collect consumer media exposures via consumer mobile telephones. IMMI recruits and maintain panels of consumers who agree to have IMMI’s proprietary software installed on their mobile phones and computers. Once installed, IMMI is able to preserve the consumer’s privacy while capturing their exposure to ads and program content received from radio, TV, on-line PC, mobile and other media sources within hearing range of the consumer and their IMMI-enabled mobile phone. IMMI clients include major TV networks, movie studios, advertisers and research companies.
“Given Bill’s experience and expertise in syndicated media research, KMR and WPP management were not surprised when IMMI Board’s requested permission to retain Bill as their President & CEO,” said Andy Brown. “However, our priority concern and prerequisite was to have Bill continue playing an active role in Mediafax affairs and be available when and as needed by Mediafax clients and management. The recent appointment of Roberto Trigos as Mediafax EVP General Manager backfills Bill’s day-to-day responsibilities and this action coupled with Bill’s agreement to serve as Mediafax Chairman-Founder satisfies the prerequisite.”
“I look forward to leading IMMI in the design and implementation of new research systems that measure the new media and advertising distribution platforms emerging from the global expansion of digital communications,” said Bill McKenna. “I will continue to guide Mediafax through the upcoming FCC mandated digital transition and afterwards. The clients and Mediafax management team that I admire and know so well will continue to access me as needed. My commitment to Puerto Rico’s advertising industry, Mediafax and the clients who steadfastly supported me during the past twenty years will continue to be a priority.”
