Entravision Radio expands José format station line-up.

Entravision Communications Corporation announced that it is converting several of its radio stations to its popular “José” format, a mix of Spanish-language Adult Contemporary hits from the 1970s to the present. Targeting Hispanic adults 25 to 54, featured music on José includes Luis Miguel, Los Angeles Azules, Marco Antonio Solis, Los Bukis, Alejandro Fernandez, and Jenni Rivera.

Obama: Delay DTV Transition.

According to Multichannel News, President-elect Barack Obama wants to delay the Feb. 17 transition to digital broadcasting, claiming the country, particularly the poor and elderly, are not prepared for the cutoff of analog TV signals so soon after he takes office on Jan. 20.

From the ashes of the defunct Interep representation company and their HITS and Azteca America Spot TV Sales team, Azteca America has decided to add National Spot Sales to its existing Network sales organization rather than sign over representation to Cross Media, who recently was awarded the rights to purchase certain assets of the HITS and Azteca America Spot TV Sales business from the Interep Bankruptcy/Trustee. At Azteca America’s request the Interep Bankruptcy Court specifically declined to let Cross Media take on the national spot sales business of Azteca America and Una Vez Mas, its largest affiliate group.

Additionally, a new independent Hispanic TV representation company will also rises from the ashes called Spanish Television Sales headed by the top executives of HITS and Azteca America Spot TV Sales who will not be joining the Cross Media team.

U.S. Consumer Best Practices for Mobile Marketing Services.

The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) released version 3.4 of its Consumer Best Practices (CBP) Guidelines for Cross-Carrier Mobile Content Services in the U.S. Updated twice annually, the guidelines have become the de facto standard for cross-carrier mobile content services, including text messaging, multi-media messaging, shortcode programs, mobile web and more.

Arbitron settles New Jersey PPM Suit.

Arbitron Inc. announced that it has joined in a Final Consent Judgment with the Attorney General of New Jersey (NJAG) that will resolve all claims against Arbitron that were alleged in the lawsuit filed by the NJAG in the Superior Court of New Jersey for Middlesex County on October 9, 2008.

Arbitron Inc. announced that it has joined in a Stipulated Order on Consent with the Attorney General of the State of New York (NYAG) that will resolve all claims against Arbitron that were alleged in the lawsuit filed by the NYAG in New York County Supreme Court on October 9, 2008.

HOY is in the timing.

There was a time when the demise of the New York Spanish language daily, HOY, would have sounded like sweet music to my ears.

The news of HOY’s closing would have come in a similar fashion as it did last week: a phone call from some agency friend asking if the rumor could be true, a news bit on 1010Wins Radio, or some email or news clipping from the New York Daily News business section. In those days I would have been thrilled. A celebration might have followed…at least at my office.

The Center for the Digital Future at the USC Annenberg School is pleased to present the results of the seventh year of our project, “Surveying the Digital Future.” The seven years of longitudinal research comprise an absolutely unique data base that completely captures broadband at home, the wireless Internet, on-line media, user-generated content and, now, social networking.

What’s Competing for Internet Users’ Attention?

The answer: A lot.

Getting consumers’ undivided attention gets harder all the time. Much like drivers who listen to music, talk on the phone, apply makeup and eat at the same time, Internet users in the US conduct a wide array of activities while online.
