Arbitron announces restart of commercialization of Portable People Meter Ratings Services.

Arbitron Inc. announced that it will resume the commercialization of its Portable People Meter radio ratings service in eight markets.

The Email Experience Council (eec), the email marketing arm of the Direct Marketing Association (DMA), announced the release of its “Retail Email Rendering Benchmark Study.” The new study examines the email design practices of 104 top online retailers tracked via RetailEmail.Blogspot , and examines their performance in an images-off email environment. It also includes the results of a survey of 472 marketers regarding rendering issues, conducted in conjunction with SubscriberMail, the sponsor of this study.

Raul Alarcon Sr., founder and Director Emeritus of Spanish Broadcasting System, has died.

Alarcon, a pioneer in Spanish-language broadcasting, left Cuba, and the radio company he had founded there, following Fidel Castro’s rise to power. He re-established his radio career in the United States, and in 1983, he purchased his first radio station.

Spanish-Language Broadcasters join forces to express concerns about Arbitron’s Portable People Meter

Spanish-language radio broadcasters Spanish Broadcasting System, Entravision Communications Corporation, Univision Communications and Border Media Partners have formed an industry-focused committee to voice concerns about Arbitron’s proposed rollout of the Portable People Meter (PPM) and the potentially harmful impact it could have on the Hispanic marketplace. The newly created group has been named the Spanish Radio Association (“SRA”).
