Primetime viewing for mobile video hits during the afternoon and early evening, according to Telephia, the largest provider of consumer research to the communications and new media markets. According to Telephia’s Mobile Video Diary Report, 30 percent of mobile video users watch mobile TV and video clips on their cell phones during the hours of noon and 4 pm, and 31 percent watch during the early evening commute hours of 4 pm to 8 pm. Not surprisingly, mobile video viewing drops to just nine percent during the regular television primetime hours of 8 pm to 11 pm.

Arbitron Inc. announced that effective with the release of the Fall 2006 survey reports, public and non-commercial radio stations will be eligible for reporting in the company’s local market ratings reports.
TV Azteca stands behind right to demand contract fulfillment from Tacher & Nostromo.
Mexican broadcaster TV Azteca has ongoing legal proceedings against former show host Alan Tacher and producer Nostromo for breach of contract. The company reiterates that its decision to demand contract fulfillment from Mr. Tacher and Nostromo is well within its legal rights and includes an obligation to protect its intellectual property and other rights.
US Online Ad Spending: Peak or Plateau?
Ad dollars continue shifting to the Internet. For example, Internet ad spending by auto manufacturers rose nearly 52% during the first seven months of this year. Yet since the spending gain in the category was only $49 million, compared to a print loss of $750 million, even if total ad spending hits a bump in the road, Internet advertising still has room to grow.
Telemundo opens headquarters in Mexico City.
Telemundo Network announced the inauguration of its new Telemundo Mexico headquarters in Mexico City, Mexico. The new offices are home to the network’s new state of the art News Bureau, which features the latest technological equipment and 24 hour connectivity to the U.S. and Latin America. In addition, the new headquarters will house offices for Telemundo’s entertainment division, as well as the finance and sales teams.
