Puerto Rico’s Telecom Market to Double its Data Revenue by 2014.

With the voice market shrinking, telecom operators face an opportunity to expand data services in Puerto Rico, as data revenue is expected to more than double by 2014 despite the deep economic contraction, according to the latest report from Pyramid Research.

Wireless Internet Use

An April 2009 survey by the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project shows that 56% of adult Americans have accessed the internet by wireless means, such as using a laptop, mobile device, game console, or MP3 player. The most prevalent way people get online using a wireless network is with a laptop computer; 39% of adults have done this.

Smartphone satisfaction Numbers.

According to the “Smartphone Usage and Brand Study” from Crowd Science, 13% of mobile phone users surveyed worldwide (with approximately half from the US) use iPhones, overtaking Blackberry at 9%.

Home Broadband Adoption 2009.

An April 2009 survey by the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project shows 63% of adult Americans now have broadband internet connections at home, a 15% increases from a year earlier. April’s level of high-speed adoption represents a significant jump from figures gathered by the Project since the end of 2007 (54%).

The decision — to delay until June 12th — has been made because the Obama administration and the Democratic congress seem to be convinced that it is to the benefit of the remaining Americans who have not yet converted

El Paso, Salt Lake City, Dallas and Memphis are the Top Text Messaging markets in the U.S.

El Paso is the top U.S. city for text messaging according to consumer and media research firm Scarborough Research. Fifty-seven percent of cell phone subscribers age 18+ in El Paso text message, versus 48 percent of adult cellular subscribers nationally. Other leading markets for text messaging include Salt Lake City, Dallas and Memphis.
