Number of U.S. TV HHs climbs by One Million for 2010-11 TV Season.

For the 2010-2011 broadcast season, Nielsen estimates the total number of TV households in the U.S. will climb to 115.9 million, an increase of one million homes from last year. Nielsen also estimates an increase of more than two million persons age two and older (P2+) in U.S. TV households, for a total of 294,650,000 people.

El Show de Cristina to end its run.

Univision Communications Inc. announced that after an incredible run of more than 20 years, Cristina Saralegui’s “El Show de Cristina” will be coming to an end.

América TeVe launched Monday, July 26 “Rompe el Silencio, Corre la Voz” (Break the Silence, Spread the Word), a social awareness campaign, against domestic violence. América TeVe, personalities: Maria Laria, Yossie Galindo, Juan Manuel Cao, Nelson Bustamante, Fernando Hidalgo, Oscar Haza, Carlos Otero, Alejandra Molina, Felix Guillermo and Leana Astorga unite their voices in solidarity with all victims of this social scourge.

Solano named Executive VP of Marketing at Telemundo.

Telemundo announced that Susan Solano Vila has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Marketing for Telemundo Communications Group. Solano Vila will report to Jacqueline Hernández, Chief Operating Officer.

Telemundo & Caracol sign output deal.

Telemundo Communications Group announced it had signed a multi-year output deal with Caracol Television. The agreement, which is effective immediately, will position Telemundo as the exclusive broadcaster of Caracol’s extensive current and future library for the U.S. market. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
