Conversion From Analog to Digital TV – Feb. 17, 2009.

On Feb. 17, 2009, all full-power TV stations will cease to broadcast analog programming. This transition to digital television will enable more efficient use of the nation’s airwaves, providing new advanced wireless services and increased public safety services. To mark this historic transition, the Census Bureau has assembled a sampling of statistics from its publications and other federal government sources about television and the television industry.

The Digital Readiness of Total U.S.

Digital Readiness of Total U.S. Households 9.4% of U.S. households are Completely Unready, and 12.6% of U.S. households are Partially Unready for the DTV Transition, according to Nielsen’s National television ratings panel.

Furthermore, 16.5% of all television sets in the U.S. are Unready Sets. Within Partially Unready households, approximately one in three television sets are Unready Sets.

Grupo Televisa statement regarding Univision Video-On-Demand Offering.

In response to inquiries regarding Univision’s video-on-demand programming offering announced on May 19, Grupo Televisa, S.A.B. (“Televisa”; NYSE: TV; BMV: TLEVISA CPO) stated that Televisa’s program license agreement with Univision does not confer upon Univision any video on-demand rights with respect to Televisa’s content including its prime time telenovelas, series, shows or any other Televisa programming nor to Mexican Soccer League matches licensed by Televisa to Univision.

LATTV closes doors.

The Board of Directors of LATTV determined on May 6, 2008 that because of the company’s inability to secure a source of ongoing funding to continue operations, it was necessary stop broadcasting operations accordingly and to proceed with a company shutdown. Tapes and masters are being returned to all distribution and production houses this week.

Univision’s KMEX ranks as the #1 Television Station in the country among Adults 18-49 in April.

Univision Communications Inc. announced that its flagship television station, KMEX-Univision 34 in Los Angeles, was the #1 television station in the entire country in any language among all Adults 18-49 for the month of April, according to Nielsen Station Index (NSI).

Interep’s Hispanic Independent Television Sales .

Interep’s Hispanic Independent Television Sales (HITS) announced at a New York event that it has launched the HITS Network, a national platform of the leading Hispanic cable and satellite networks across the country.

MEGA TV launches full power affiliate in Puerto Rico.

Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS)announced that it has signed a retransmission agreement with WSJU-TV, Channel 30, starting August 25th and making the station the newest affiliate of Mega TV in Puerto Rico. The agreement now makes Mega TV’s high quality programming available throughout the island to Puerto Rican residents. Mega TV programming is also broadcasted through cable and satellite systems in Puerto Rico.
