Azteca América announced at the National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) conference, the premiere of Azte Pa’cá, a two-hour weekly show featuring Renán Almendárez Coello “El Cucuy.” Renán, a Spanish-language radio icon, joins Azteca América with his first television show. Azte Pa’cá will air Saturday nights beginning on February 23 at 8 PM/7 C.

Public TV Educates America.
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) released the results of a comprehensive survey of public television stations undertaken by SRI International. The study reveals that more than 84 percent of the stations are providing educational services directly to their communities.
TV Stations donate an average of 17 seconds an hour to Public Service Advertising.
While the media environment is evolving rapidly, television continues to be the dominant medium used by the American public. TV advertising is therefore still a core component of most major public service campaigns, on topics such as childhood obesity, drunk driving, or cancer prevention. To help inform the work of non-profits seeking to communicate with the public, the Kaiser Family Foundation is releasing a new, updated study that examines the extent and nature of public service advertising (PSA) on both broadcast and cable television.
Telemundo & Televisa settle lawsuit.
Telemundo Communications Group, Inc. has agreed to settle a federal lawsuit filed by Grupo Televisa in Miami, Florida. This suit alleged that Telemundo tortuously interfered with Televisa’s contract with the actor Mauricio Islas.
Azteca America extends LA presence.
Azteca America announced a five-year agreement with Pappas Telecasting, which will grant Azteca America the right to continue airing its programming until December 2012, on the Los Angeles flagship station, KAZA-TV Channel 54.
DIRECTV and SBS-Mega TV sign exclusive contract in Puerto Rico.
Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. (SBS) announced that it has signed an exclusive contract with DIRECTV, the leader in digital television signal distribution, to broadcast MEGA TV programming in Puerto Rico through DIRECTV’s Channel 169.
LATV Networks acquires American Latino TV.
LATV Networks, LLC (LATV) announced that it has acquired American Latino TV (ALTV), the syndication and production company for English-language television shows created for bicultural/bilingual U.S. Latinos.
Telecinco to purchase 28% of CaribeVisión.
Telecinco from Spain, announced that they have purchased 28.3% of CaribeVisión for $32M, which has television stations in New York, Miami and Puerto Rico.
