MediaCom Commits to Arbitron Portable People Meter System.

Arbitron Inc. announced that MediaCom, one of the world’s leading media investment management companies and part of WPP’s GroupM, has signed a commitment to use radio audience estimates based on the Portable People Meter (PPMSM) system when Arbitron deploys its state-of-the-art audience measurement service.

The agreement, which was reached separately from the previously announced WPP contract for Portable People Meter services, covers radio planning and buying activities of MediaCom in the United States, where MediaCom represents leading advertisers, including Volkswagen, Warner Bros., Shell, JetBlue, Cendant and Diageo.

“The Portable People Meter will give radio the visibility it desperately needs among advertisers who are focused on all things electronic and digital,” said Jon Mandel, Chairman, MediaCom U.S. and chief global buying officer, MediaCom Worldwide. “Electronic measurement and credibility go hand in hand with the Arbitron Portable People Meter.”
