MEGA TV to launch programming in the sky.
May 1, 2007
WSBS-Mega TV Channel 22 announced that its signature programs will soon be made available to passengers on-board Virgin America, as part of the airline’s Hispanic On Demand Service (Venevisión In-Flight) within its domestic U.S. flights.
As part of the agreement, Virgin America will transmit the following Mega TV signature programs to its U.S. flights: “El Circulo,” “X Pediente,” “22 Minutos,” and “Ruta al Éxito.” Beginning July 1, 2007, all Virgin America passengers will have access to the best of Mega TV’s programming at no charge using Virgin’s On Demand service.
Carmen Franchi de Alfaro, Vice President of Programming and Sponsorship Development for Mega TV, commented, “This is an innovative way to expand the viewership of our product to new markets, while also reinforcing the Mega TV brand. Virgin America is a leading domestic airline and we are thrilled to partner with them.”
Miguel E. Somoza, Venevisión International’s Sales Director for North America & Asia, and the executive responsible for selling Mega TV’s programming, added, “Mega TV not only will be able to reach new heights with their newfound nationwide exposure, but will also compliment the turnkey in-flight Hispanic content solution pioneered in conjunction with our own Venevisión International Films division.”
The program package for July includes:
“El Círculo,” a glamorous program that provides viewers an intimate look at the lives of Miami’s rich and famous. The show is hosted by renowned journalist Ana Remos, often providing behind-the-scenes access to Ana’s personal list of high profile friends and contacts.
“Xpediente,” a show that profiles some of Miami’s most interesting and unsolved open crime cases. “Xpediente” will reconstruct and re-enact crimes and identify possible suspects using physical evidence, photographs, videos, testimonies and confessions.
“22 Minutos,” a unique Hispanic magazine program highlighting topics and issues of interest to young Hispanic adults. The program runs for exactly 22 minutes, showcasing interesting people, places and events from around the world.
“Ruta al Éxito,” a program that describes the many challenges that a successful Italian singer faces as she tries to make it in the American music industry.
