Mercury Mambo celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with a Student Art Contest.
August 27, 2011
Hispanic marketing agency Mercury Mambo is celebrating Hispanic Heritage month by launching an art contest for young Hispanic artists across the U.S. The contest, entitled “50 Million plus” invites students ages 12 – 18 years of age to capture and express their feelings about being one of the 50 million plus Hispanics in the United States. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finalists.
“The U.S. Census Bureau announced in March of this year that the Hispanic population had surpassed 50 million. This growth represents a milestone in our nation’s history and an incredible source of pride for all Hispanics,” says Becky Arreaga – Mercury Mambo President.
“Not only will the Hispanic population continue to rise, but so is the cultural momentum, as evident in music, fashion, art and even the business world. We recognize that these young artists will continue to fuel this movement.”
Mercury Mambo is an ardent supporter of education and art initiatives. The agency most recently hosted an art exhibit entitled “Ahora San Anto en Austin,” featuring contemporary artists from San Antonio’s burgeoning art scene. The agency also dedicates a significant portion of its pro-bono efforts to education-oriented programs such as Latinitas, empowering young Latina girls to achieve success through media and technology.
The contest launches Friday, September 23, 2011 and runs through October 14, 2011. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, October 26. For complete contest information and rules, visit http://www.mercurymambo.com/50million>.
