The Mexican Soccer Federation (FMF) and Soccer 2002 announced the sale of the exclusive U.S. Spanish-language radio rights to all Mexican National Team games to Fútbol de Primera, based in San Francisco and Miami.

This four-year agreement includes all games played by the Mexican National Team beginning in 2003, including World Cup qualifying matches and all international friendly matches that the team plays, and goes through the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

Fútbol de Primera is the leading Hispanic soccer company in the United States. Fútbol de Primera’s properties include the rights in all languages, such as Spanish and English, to the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, the 2003 and 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup, the 2003 Women’s World Cup, the 2003 and 2005 U-20 and U-17 World Youth Championships, and the draws for each of these tournaments.

Earlier this year Fútbol de Primera exclusively broadcast the 2002 FIFA World Cup on 104 Spanish-language radio stations in the United States and its associated programming was heard on a total of 162 stations in 7 countries, including Australia.

“We are very proud and honored to begin this new relationship with the Mexican Soccer Federation and Soccer 2002. These radio rights are the most important property for the Spanish-speaking community in the United States following the World Cup and we are very excited that in 2003 we will begin to broadcast all of Mexico’s games to our enormous audience,” said Alejandro Gutman who together with Andres Cantor is the Co-Chairman of Fútbol de Primera.

“We have been pursuing these rights for a long time and we are very proud that we have finally achieved this goal. Today is a very historic day for Fútbol de Primera as we now own the two most important radio properties in the U.S. Hispanic market through 2006. Fútbol de Primera was selected over its competition once again because of the quality of our programs, our impressive lineup of personalities and the reach of our radio network. We look forward to continuing to
bring Hispanics in the U.S. the very best soccer programming for the next four years and beyond,” Gutman added.
