Mexican Teams Have High Expectations For The Copa Libertadores @ Fox Sports en Español

Fox Sports en Español will open its coverage of the 2004 Copa Toyota Libertadores soccer competition with three back-to-back telecasts. Colo Colo (Chile) and Deportivo Cali (Colombia) will kick off the network’s first set of live telecasts on Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. (ET)/4:00 p.m. (PT), followed by Santos Laguna (Mexico) and Universidad de Concepción (Chile) at 9:30 p.m. (ET)/6:30 p.m. (PT). The third telecast of the day will be played between Libertad (Paraguay) and Deportes Tolima (Colombia) at 12:30 a.m. (ET-Wednesday morning)/9:30 p.m. (PT). Fox Sports en Español will telecast all 142 matches of the 2004 Copa Toyota Libertadores, exclusively, including all playoffs and the climatic finals in July.
For the first time in the history of the tournament, Mexican teams were guaranteed two automatic berths following their participation in January’s InterLiga qualifying tournament. Representing Mexico in the 2004 Copa Toyota Libertadores are Santos Laguna and América. Returning to defend their title is 2003 Copa Toyota Libertadores and Toyota Cup champions, Boca Juniors (Argentina). Their first match is against Bolivar (Bolivia) on Wednesday, February 18 at 5:30 p.m. (ET)/2:30 p.m. (PT).
A total of 36 club teams representing ten Latin American countries are participating in the 2004 Copa Toyota Libertadores. Fox Sports en Español retains the exclusive U.S. live telecast rights to Copa Toyota Libertadores through 2007.
