MexiCanal unveils programming.

Los Tigres del Norte have signed an exclusive agreement with MexiCanal to air a five-part reality series/tribute in the United States and Canada. The program El Triunfo de Unos Tigres ‘Los Tigres del Norte,’ is scheduled to launch in September.

MexiCanal‚s new programming slated for the fall:
— El Triunfo de Unos Tigres ‘Los Tigres del Norte’ (The Triumph of Some Tigers), Co-produced by MEXICANAL and El Septimo Sello, this series/tribute will follow the career and success of the legendary band Los Tigres del Norte in the U.S. Told by the legendary artists themselves, brothers Jorge, Hernán, Eduardo and Luis Hernández, as well as their cousin Oscar Lara, discuss their careers, the camaraderie with their fans at every concert, and their hits. Each weekend, viewers will have the opportunity to learn about the band’s songs, tours dances while experiencing a Los Tigres del Norte show. The program is set to include testimonials from the band, its fans and the people closest to them.
The career of Los Tigres del Norte can be summed up with the following words: “The voice of the people.” With a successful career that spans more than three decades, tops millions of record sales, and includes extensive tours throughout the world, Los Tigres del Norte is the most successful norteño-style music group in the grupero movement. The depth of their music has even touched the educational system. Even the University of Chicago has created a course on corrido songs, based on Los Tigres del Norte.
The music of this beloved group consists of tales about life, love, and the struggle to survive in an imperfect World. They regularly touch on the subject of illegal narcotics,and immigration, but they’ve also shared stories of love and betrayal between the sexes. The band has modernized the music, infusing it with everything from bolero, cumbia, rock rhythms, and waltzes to the sounds of machine guns integrated with the music.
— Festividades (Celebrations), a documentary series, will bring viewers celebrations and traditions that have been preserved in the culture and customs of Guanajuato. Religious festivals blend Catholic and pre-Hispanic beliefs, fervor, devotion and religious passion in a syncretism that redefines the ethnic identities of many.
— El Valor de los Valores (The Greatest Value) is a program which examines everyday values. Each episode presents a story taken from everyday life and the moral values it calls into question. Topics such as sexuality, mental health and delinquency are dramatized in this series in order to make viewers reflect on their social behavior. The program will examine humanity’s loss of moral values in recent years. Among these abandoned values are respect, tolerance, gratitude and friendship.
In addition, to this exciting new slate, many of MexiCanal’s popular shows/specials will be returning: The Night of the “Grito‰ (Cry of Independance), Day of the Dead special on Cantares y Costumbres, MexiCanal’s Holiday Special and Tierrra Grupera End of the Year Special.
