Mier y Terán named EVP of Univision Television Group

Univision Communications Inc. announced the appointment of Alberto Mier y Terán as executive vice president of Univision Television Group (UTG). Mier y Terán will continue as general manager of flagship stations KMEX-TV Univision 34 and KFTR-TV UniMás 46 in Los Angeles, and now joins the executive team of UTG. He will be involved in the strategic direction of the group, including personnel, revenue, expense and station management. He will continue be based in Los Angeles and report to Kevin Cuddihy, president of UTG.
“Alberto has done a tremendous job as the general manager of KMEX, the number one television station in the country regardless of language,” said Cuddihy. “He has proved to be a great leader of his team as well as consistently delivering his plans. Since his arrival at UTG four years ago, he has played an integral role in the success of the entire organization.”
Mier y Terán has been part of Univision for over a decade. He served most recently as senior vice president and general manager of Univision’s Los Angeles stations, leading local TV operations for KMEX-TV Univision 34 and KFTR-TV UniMás 46. Prior to his role in Los Angeles, he was vice president and general manager for WGBO Univision and WXFT UniMas in Chicago. Previously, he was vice president and general manager for KBNT Univision and KDTF UniMas in San Diego, stations owned and operated by Entravision Communications. Before joining Univision, he held positions of increasing responsibility with Entravision Communications,CBS affiliate KFMB in San Diego, as well as with Time Warner Cable.
