Miller Lite & Texas Adelante Road To Success Together In 2002.

Miller Lite and Texas Adelante Fund are taking education on the road with the “Texperience” — an interactive mobile unit that will travel across Texas raising money for college scholarships and showcasing Miller’s long-standing involvement with sports and music across the state.

The Miller Lite and Texas Adelante Texperience is comprised of two semi-trucks that form one large tented pavilion encasing the “experience,” which includes interactive sports games, a music theater, boxing ring, replica racing car and mini-brewery tour. As an official fundraiser for the Texas Adelante Fund, a scholarship program for Hispanic college students, the Texperience includes career information as well as scholarship and leadership information.

“It takes a Texas-size exhibit like the Texperience to truly showcase Miller’s pride and involvement in sports and music programs in this state,” said Marcela Fajardo, Miller Brewing Company’s Texas marketing director. “We are excited to provide a truly interactive experience for consumers and give them an opportunity to join us in supporting Adelante and its mission to provide scholarships to Hispanic students.”

The Texperience is approximately 7,225 square feet and also features spin your own music kiosks, photo opportunity cutouts and music listening stations. The boxing display features trunks and boxing gloves from World Boxing Association (WBA) junior middleweight champion Fernando Vargas as well as memorabilia from the Texas Title Belt boxing series, presented by Miller Lite and Texas Adelante. Other displays feature memorabilia from prominent professional athletes in Texas such as Emmitt Smith, Tim Duncan and Mike Modano.

The Texperience will travel to events ranging from the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo to Fiesta in San Antonio to the Texas State Fair in Dallas, visiting a number of events each month throughout the year. Admission to the Texperience is free and donations collected at kiosks throughout the unit will benefit scholarship recipients of the Texas Adelante Fund. A parent or guardian must accompany patrons younger than 18.

As part of its commitment to higher education, Miller Lite also will donate $1 for every visitor to the Texperience (up to $100,000) through the end of 2002. Representatives of the Texas Adelante Fund will tour with the Texperience to provide scholarship and application packets at the Adelante information booth.

Miller Brewing Company helped establish the Adelante national charity in 1997 and began a strong partnership and commitment to higher education among Hispanic college students. In the last two years, Miller Brewing Company has generated funds for more than 40 scholarships ($3,000 each) and leadership training to assist Hispanic students in Texas through programs such as Miller Lite Texas Title Belt, Fiestas Patrias and Texas Adelante/Miller Lite Super Softball Series, as well as through contributions from Miller’s independently owned wholesalers.

“Through the Texperience, we now have an avenue to increase awareness of Adelante and recruit potential scholarship recipients across the state,” said Ruben Garcia, assistant executive director of Adelante. “Because of our partnership with Miller Brewing Company, we can continue to empower young Hispanic adults to complete their college education and become successful leaders in our communities.”

The Texperience assists with education initiatives as well as educates Texans on an industry that has an economic impact of $600 million annually in the state.

The Texperience also will provide people across the state with a chance to learn more about how one of Texas’ favorite beers is brewed.

“More than 100 million cases a year of Miller beer are brewed right here in Texas and the Fort Worth Brewery has a tremendous impact on our state,” said Jeff Colbert, Miller’s Texas general manager. “The Texperience provides a look into the brewing process as well as the brewery’s role in our state. All of us at Miller are extremely proud of our Texas roots and the Texperience provides us with a great opportunity to showcase that pride.”
