La Opinión has hired Carol Mintz as Vice President of Advertising. She will be responsible for planning and directing all
functions of the advertising sales departments that include national, territory and classified. Mintz will work to identify strategic growth opportunities that continue to drive La Opinión’s increase in market share, advertising revenue and profit growth.
“Carol’s 20 years of media sales experience will bring a huge boost to our organization,” said Jose Ignacio Lozano, Publisher and CEO of La Opinión. “Her extensive contacts, familiarity with the Los Angeles market and knowledge of Spanish-language print sales will further strengthen our position as a leader not only in Hispanic media, but as one of the major
metropolitan dailies serving Southern California.”
Mintz comes to La Opinión from Newspapers First, where she was responsible for national advertising sales as Vice President for the Western Region since 1997. Before joining Newspapers First, she served as the Major Accounts Manager for the Long Beach Press Telegram, a Knight Ridder newspaper. From 1987 to 1995, she was the National Advertising Supervisor for the Daily News. Mintz attended Temple University where she earned a degree in Business.
“She is going to be a tremendous addition and an invaluable asset to our Advertising Sales force,” said Monica Lozano, president of La Opinión. “Carol’s wide-ranging sales expertise along with her leadership skills will make our sales teams an even more effective revenue producing unit.”
Mintz is scheduled to begin on April 15th. In addition to her duties as Vice President of Advertising, she will also serve as a member of La Opinión’s Executive Committee. Her affiliations include her current post as President of the Newspaper Advertising Sales Association and board membership on the California Newspaper Advertising Executives Association and the NAA Entertainment Committee.
