MLS returns to FOX Deportes

Claudio “El Emperador” Suarez, one of Mexico’s most prominent soccer stars, and former Chivas USA teammate Mariano Trujillo join play-by-play announcer John Laguna to form FOX Deportes’ top Major League Soccer broadcast team.  The announcement was made today by Carlos Sanchez, Executive Vice President and General Manager, FOX Deportes. Trujillo and Suarez make their MLS on FOX Deportes debuts this weekend with different on-air partners, as Laguna is on assignment outside the country.

FOX Deportes airs a doubleheader on Sunday, March 8, the first of three twin-bills slated on the network during its inaugural MLS season. In Game 1, Sporting KC faces the New York Red Bulls at Sporting Park in Kansas City (7:00 PM ET).  Troy Santiago calls the action alongside match analyst Claudio Suarez, while Mariano Trujillo reports from the sidelines. The action continues that night as the Seattle Sounders FC host the defending Eastern Conference Champion New England Revolution at CenturyLink Field (9:30 PM ET).  Play-by-play announcer Ariel Torrone joins renowned soccer analyst Fernando Schwartz to call the evening match.

“We’re extremely excited to have Major League Soccer back on the network,” said Sanchez.  “Suarez and Trujillo are key assets to the broadcast, having played for the MLS, and will help engage fans on a different level.”
