Mobile Electronics Industry profession more accessible to Latinos.

The Consumer Electronics Association’s (CEA) Mobile Electronics Certified Professionals (MECP) program announced that the program’s Basic Study Guide and Basic Installer Exam now are available in Spanish, further facilitating the education of Latino mobile electronics industry professionals. The MECP Program trains and certifies installers on the techniques to install automotive electronics products properly and tests sales professionals on the basics of mobile electronics sales and systems design.

The training and testing materials, now available in Spanish and English, cover apprentice-level topics such as basic automotive electronics, installation technique and shop safety. The MECP program materials also cover the critical basics of mobile products including: mobile entertainment, navigation, wireless communication and vehicle security.

“Feedback from existing MECP installers directly led to this new Spanish language content,” said Todd Ramsay, consultant for CEA’s MECP Program. “We want to make the program easily accessible to those who value it most and research shows the Latino community holds a great interest for in-vehicle products. Now, a career in mobile electronics installation is more attainable to the community, as well.”
