Modern Life & Mobiles.

According to the 2003 Global Attitudes Project from the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, while only 48% of US adults say they like the pace of “modern life,” 62% say they like cellphones.

This compares to 55% of Canadians who say they enjoy the pace of modern life and 49% who like cellphones.

Pew surveyed adults over the age of 18 in 44 nations in 2002. It found the greatest discrepancy between the number of people who say they enjoy modern living and those who say they like cellphones in Eastern Europe. For example, in Poland, only 35% of respondents like modern life, but 76% say they like cellphones.

To put the Pew numbers into perspective, EMC reported in February that just 7% of the population in Eastern Europe has a mobile phone, while 13% of the US and Canada is a mobile subscriber.
