Discovery Familia will celebrate Mother’s Day with special programming that will air Sunday, May 13, beginning at 9 PM E/P.

Although Discovery Familia celebrates Hispanic moms all year long, this particular month the network ramps up its efforts airing its series of original shorts, “What I learned from Mom.” These heartfelt spots showcase kids of all ages expressing how their moms inspired them and what they mean to them.

The poignant spots can also be viewed online at www.discoveryfamilia.com, along with a holiday focused blog by Jeannette Torres Alvarez, the official ambassador for the network, that honors and recognizes moms with a warm and personal look at all that they do for their children.

Also, on its Facebook page, the channel is launching “May is for Mom,” a contest with incredible prizes designed to rejuvenate the body and revitalize friendships. Each week moms can win different beauty treatments for themselves and a friend, and a final grand prize of a trip for two to any city in the United States, including two round trip airline tickets, a two-night stay in a luxury hotel, transportation and a relaxing day at a spa. Sonia is firefighter, a mother of two, who is displeased with the way she looks. With the help of a talented team of experts, Karla and Sonia will feel 10 years younger in just 10 days, and take away useful beauty tips on how to be in style and look their very best.

This series, full of surprises and useful beauty tips, tries to prove that anyone can look and feel like a cover girl with the right ingredients: hairstyling, makeup and clothes. Each episode transforms one lucky woman into a cover girl in the blink of an eye. For mother’s day, the featured episodes will look to transform the lives of two devoted women: Doris, a mother of three, who juggles three jobs, and Tennille, a single mother who holds a fulltime job and suffers from Multiple Sclerosis.
